Master Data

Under Master Data you maintain the reusable base data for your devices and parts: manufacturers, models, and categories. This data lives at the workspace level and is available to all deployments.

Note

In the app this area is called “Custom Inventory”. In this documentation we use the term Master Data, as it best describes the content — manufacturer, model, and category data.

Shared master data from parent workspaces

Some master data — in particular device manufacturers and device models — can be shared from a parent workspace (e.g. by a manufacturer or service team). Such shared entries appear in your workspace but are maintained centrally by the parent workspace.

For example, machine manufacturers only need to create a model once, and all customer workspaces can use it. You can use shared entries, but cannot edit or delete them yourself.
